Job Summary:

We are hiring a full time Shipper Receiver to join our team at our main shop in Prince George, BC. The ideal candidate has excellent situational awareness and the ability to work safely in a physically demanding role. Job Description:

The Shipper Receiver will work closely with the Shop Manager and will be responsible for overseeing all shipping and receiving on site as well as yard maintenance and organization at large. This is a safety-sensitive position which requires the successful candidate to have a high level of awareness and an ability to think critically. 

 

Main Job Duties:

Shipping and Receiving

  • Track incoming and outgoing shipments according to Omineca’s internal processes and procedures.
  • Monitor shipment timelines and follow-up promptly to reduce delays.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally to coordinate shipments with other parties.
  • Prepare and secure fabricated structures, equipment, and materials for shipping.
  • Review packing slips and other documentation to verify orders for accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed records of shipments and orders.
  • Ensure outgoing items are shipped on schedule and with proper paperwork.
  • Receive incoming items and check shipment against packing slip and original order, record shortages, and reject damaged goods.
  • Oversee loading and unloading of large and complex loads from trucks.
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Yard maintenance/organization

  • Keep materials and metals for different jobs separated, labelled, and organized.
  • Keep stock material racks organized.
  • Keep crop material racks organized.
  • Keep yard clear for mobile traffic and to reduce hazards.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized yard space to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Load fleet trucks and trailers with tool boxes and equipment for crews doing field work.

Shop Consumables

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of shop consumables and ensure sufficient stock is on hand.
  • Order consumables as required.
  • Order coveralls, locks, and other items for new employees as directed.

 

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial or commercial shipping role.
  • Physically able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the role.
    • Able to lift up to 50lbs.
    • Able to push/pull up to 100lbs.
    • Able to work in extreme heat and cold.
    • Able to work in physically challenging environments.
    • Able to stand and walk for long periods.
    • Some stairs required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent situational awareness.
    • Able to work in safety-sensitive positions.
    • Able to work in high-hazard environments.
  • Advanced critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiar with Google Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Experienced in the safe operation of mobile equipment including forklifts, zoom booms, etc. 
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset.
  • Dangerous goods certification and WHMIS training considered and asset.

Shift Details:

  • 8:00am -4:30pm
  • Monday- Friday
  • 30 minute unpaid meal break
